Snowshoeing at Park City Mountain
— Posted by Park City on December 13, 2016
Of my 10+ years of coming to Park City, I have gone skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, snowmobiling, sledding, and cross-country skiing. Today, I knew by our ride up the Red Pine Gondola that I picked the perfect day to add snowshoeing to my list!
The part that was most impressive about our snowshoe adventure (besides the breathtaking views) was how stress-free our guides made the tour. From the gondola, our guides, Maizy and Sam, fitted us into our snowshoes and trekking poles and off we went! No rental shops, no lines, and no hassle.
Although we were at the resort with other skiers and snowboarders, once we hit the snowshoe trail, it felt like we were on our own private mountain. The snowshoe trail twists and turns through trees, crosses over bridges and creeks, through untouched powder, and up to some of the best views of Park City.
During the trek, our guides taught us about the surrounding area and the wildlife on the mountain. Maizy even found the tiniest animal tracks in the fresh snow on the trail!
By far, the best part of the trail was coming out of the trees onto the ridgeline and seeing the mountain tops expand for miles! On a bluebird day like today, you’ll definitely want your sunglasses, sunscreen, and, of course, your camera!
Park City Mountain’s snowshoe tour is perfect for a day off skis with the whole family. Our guides kept a great pace for our group and let us catch our breath when we needed. By the time we were done, I was ready to grab a bowl of chili at Red Pine Lodge and relax on the patio outside.
