Pickin' at Park City: A Bluegrass, Brews and BBQ Festival is coming soon!

If I were to sit down and rattle out all the awesome things about Park City in the summer, I'd say the following: the sunshine and great weather, free music, outdoor dining and kicking it outdoors with a cold beer in hand. I'm pretty sure any local Parkite would agree with me.

All of those great qualities about Park City are going to be here at Park City Mountain Resort on Saturday, August 9 for our first ever FREE bluegrass festival, Pickin' at Park City: A Bluegrass, Brews and BBQ Festival.

Since there's a lot going on at this festival, let's break down the event name and take it piece by piece.

Nationally-acclaimed bluegrass group The Travelin' McCourys are coming to Park City Mountain Resort to headline this first festival. The Travelin' McCourys, a group formed by the sons of bluegrass legend Del McCoury, has traveled the country and played with acts like the Allman Brothers, Phish and Keller Williams. Keeping the tradition of bluegrass alive while infusing their progressive style, The Travelin' McCourys entertain all ages with sounds that will make you get up off your blanket and dance! If the headliner isn't enough to convince you this event is going to be a blast, we have two Utah bluegrass groups that are kicking off the festival: Lash Larue and Cold Creek.

While the music is playing, we'll have craft beer conveniently inside the venue. Johnny's IPA, Deschutes River Ale and Moab's Rocket Bike American Lager, along with Miller Lite, just to name a few. All the dancing during the show under the sunny sky is sure to work up a thirst for a tasty brew! If you're not into beer, don't worry. We've got non-alcoholic beverages, including the delicious and refreshing Peach Mint Lemonade.

Besides seeing The Travelin' McCourys, I'm most excited for the food that will be on sale during the show. (Give me a break, my day usually revolves around meals.) This isn't your standard BBQ, so don't just blow me off here. This won't be hot dogs, brats or hamburgers. I'm talking Honey Bourbon Glazed Pork Ribs, Mango Peach BBQ Chicken and Smokehouse BBQ Braised Beef Short Ribs, along with a variety of sandwiches and sides.  I highly recommend coming hungry, or planning this to be your dinner. It's certainly going to be mine.
